Organic Clothing For Babies

What can be more delicate than the skin of a newborn? As parents, it is a natural instinct for us to want what is best for our babies. We want to protect them and make sure that they are safe – from all things that may threaten them. The question is, do we really have to go so far as to ensure that our babies use organic clothing? Is there a need for these?

A baby is, as we now, born with very little by way of defense mechanisms. The baby’s immune system has not yet developed and so he or she can’t fight off substances that may harm them. Allergens, chemicals and toxins exist all around and our children are continuously exposed to them. One main source of exposure is the clothes they wear. Do you know that regular clothing is covered with chemicals? These are usually chemicals that help soften the fabric or ward off stain. Often, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and herbicides also figure into the production of these fabrics.

What happens is that these chemicals make contact with the skin and may cause allergies and irritations. These are also believed to contribute to diseases such as asthma, rashes, throat and nose problems, eye irritations, and even some cancers.

With organic clothes, none of these chemicals can touch your baby’s skin. Organic clothes are produced using no bleaches and chemicals. They are fibers weaved into cloth and colors are created by way of natural dyes (usually made using vegetables and other natural substances). Organic clothes are usually fashioned out of organic hemp, wool, cotton, alpaca and silk.

But that’s not all the good that organic fabric does. The production of organic fabric is actually better for the environment, as organic farming creates very little impact on our air and water resources.

Make the first step towards protecting your baby by getting them organic baby clothes.

While you’re at it, you can also get organic layettes, blankets and other baby accessories made of fabric.
